Merle G. Trumbly

May 15, 1925 - February 9, 2014

SALEM - Merle G. Trumbly passed away on February 9, 2014 after a 2 year battle with Prostate Cancer, surrounded by his family. Merle was born in Watonga, Oklahoma and was one of seven children born to Lewis and Myrtle Trumbly.

Merle married Elsie E. Anderson on July 3, 1946 in Salem. Merle worked in the food industry as a Manager Vice President of the Salem Division of West Foods, Inc. and later was the Maintenance Manager for AgriPac until his retirement. After retirement Merle had a repair service that he owned for a number of years. Merle loved to square dance (Red Hot Pokers) and was the first president of the Capital City Cruisers Motorcycle Club in Salem. He enjoyed RVing, traveling across the USA with Elsie, gardening and spending time at family functions. Merle served his country during World War II in the Navy and from time to time would transport Admiral Nimitz from ship to shore.

Merle is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elsie, Son Dick (Marlene) Trumbly, Daughter Gloria (Rich) Rosenau. Grandchildren Tina and Ellis Esther, Tonya and Michael Beach, Roger and Sarah Rosenau, Ryan and Stacia Rosenau and 10 great grandchildren. Family requests contribution may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice at 1015 3rd St. NW, Salem, OR 97304. Viewing Friday, Feb. 14th 1pm-6pm, funeral services Saturday, Feb. 15th at 12pm; all at City View Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will be in Mt; Crest Abby Mausoleum.
