Rex O. Dart

June 25, 1919 - June 22, 2014

On June 25, 1919 Rex O. Dart was born in Scio, OR. His parents Vera and John Dart moved Rex and his siblings Mabel and Nelda to Brownsville, OR. Where Rex grew up and graduated from Brownsville H.S. in 1937.

Following his high school graduation Rex enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for 8 years. Upon his completion of military service in 1945 he began his career at Fairview Training Center. Rex retired from Fairview after 38 years' service.

Rex married Velma Hinman in 1951. Rex and Velma welcomed 4 daughters into the world.

In 1967 Rex married his second wife and love of his life Skaidrite Karklins. This was a joining of two families, Skaidy's two children George and Mary Karklins and Rex's four daughters Debbie, Sylvia, Beverly and Linda Dart. On June 5, 2014 Rex and Skaidy celebrated 47 years of marriage.

In 1986 Rex and Skaidy found paradise and called Honolulu, HI home for several years.

In 2001 they returned to Salem, OR where they enjoyed their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Rex was loved deeply by all his family and friends. Rex is survived by his wife Skaidy, daughters Debbie Bouchie, Sylvia Dart-Lindsey, Beverly Dart, Linda Dart, step-daughter Mary Karklins, 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

Rex O. Dart passed peacefully on June 22, 2014 with his wife, children and family by his side.

Directly following we will have a Celebration of Life potluck at The Battle Creek Commons Club House at 1823 Lexington Circle S.E. Salem OR 97306. We hope you can join us in celebrating his journey.
