MSG Michael Francis Rodgrigue (RET)

February 6, 1947 - March 11, 2014

MSG Michael Francis Rodrigue (RET) passed away on March 11, 2014 at the age of 67. He was born in Reno NV on February 6, 1947 and was the 6th of 7 sons for Dennis & Loretta (Riordan) Rodrigue.

Michael had several carreers in his life. He was extremely proud to have been one of the first street paramedics in the country working in San Francisco in the mid 70s. He went on to train as a police officer serving as a Deputy Sheriff in Elko County NV and Baker County OR. He gave 20 years of service to our country, 6 years as a Marine and the rest serving in the Army Guard retiring as Master Sargeant in 1992.

By 1994 a new field of endeavor opened for Michael when he and his wife Ann Morstad purchased All Claims Service, insurance claims adjusting company handling insurance claims in Oregon & Washington State. In 2004 he started "Chasing Hurricanes" in FL and again in 2005 when he went to assist the folks in MS & LA. after Hurricane Katrina came on shore. In 2006 he ventured into California to help with the water losses after rains dumped tons in the Los Angles area. These exercises were called CAT duty, short for catastrophe claims. In 2009 he went back to Louisiana to help after Hurricane Claudette hit that coast. He would describe his job as "handling anything that burned down or blew up".

Michael is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ann Kennedy Morstad. He is survived by his children, Son Scott (Meeling) Morstad from Oregon City, Daughter Michelle Rodrigue, Dallas, Oregon, Son Mike Rodrigue, Martinez CA ,and Daughter Melissa (David) Rodrigue-Kennedy, Martinez CA.

He is survived by his Grandsons Collin Hodge & Tristin Morstad and Granddaughters Mckenzie Morstad & Aisling Kennedy.

Michael is survived by his 5 brothers Jerry, Tom, Larry, Jim and Patrick.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on March 28, 2014 at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 1010 Columbia St NE, Salem OR. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made in Michael's name to Willamette Valley Hospice, 1015 3rd Street NW, Salem OR 97304.
