Cheryl Claudine Arbuckle

November 19, 1920 - January 16, 2013

SILVERTON - Cheryl Claudine Sypher Arbuckle was born to Avis and Fred Sypher on Nov. 19, 1920 in Pullman, WA. She lived her early days in Gervais, OR. When she was in the 6th grade her family moved to Silverton, OR.

Cheryl had two brothers, Brad and Merlyn Sypher, and one sister Beth Palmer.

Cheryl married her high school sweetheart, Fremont, in 1939 at her aunt's house in Olympia, WA.

Cheryl and Fremont were married 71 years and worked together in a number of different businesses. They had three children; raised the two older children in Portland, and when the baby of the family was eight they moved back to Silverton to live out the rest of their days. Shortly after, both of the other children and families followed them to Silverton.

While in high school she worked as an usherette at the Silverton Palace Theater.

Cheryl is preceded in death by her husband, Fremont; son, Leon Arbuckle; son-in-law Bill Hoffman and her two brothers and sister.

She is survived by; son, David Arbuckle (Diana); daughter, Cherry Hoffman; daughter-in-law, Dawn Arbuckle, adopted son, Angel Ocasio (Kathy). She had 9 grandchildren, Cherie Moneyhan (John), Matthew Arbuckle (Taundra); Staci Tanksley (David); Adam Hoffman (Christine); Christopher Arbuckle (Sara); Katy Arbuckle; adopted grandchildren, Sarah Kessler (Tommy); Luis Ocasio; and Taylor Ocasio. And 17 great grandchildren.

In her later years Cheryl lived at the Silverton Mobile Estates where she was manager for a few years. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She and Fremont had a bookkeeping service in Silverton for many years. She was loved by many for her kindness and quick sense of humor.

Cheryl will be greatly missed.

Services will be Feb. 15, at 11:30 AM. First Christian Church, 402 N. 1st St., Silverton, OR. Arrangements are by Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton.
