Robert 'Dick' F. Meier

May 3, 1925 - September 13, 2013

Dick was born to Flavius and Veronica Meier. He married Rosemary Coleman following his army air corp duty in 1945. Dick and Rosemary would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary in November. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, infant son (Bobby) and three brothers, John, Joe and Tom. Dick is survived by brothers Phil, Paul and Bill and a sister Carol Greene. Dick is also survived by his wife Rosemary and nine children, Shirley Rydell (Chuck), Stephen (Patricia), David (Diane), Suzanne Hatfield (Rick), Richard (Sue), Patrick (Kelly), Sally Bolton, Michael (Holly) and Mary Price (Greg). Dick's family tree includes 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Dick was a dedicated family man, a loyal Catholic and fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. Following WWII, Dick moved back to his home town of Salem and started his plaster contracting business. After retirement, Dick and Rosemary moved to Sisters, Oregon and thoroughly enjoyed the great outdoors. They frequently wintered in Arizona. As Dick's health began to decline, he and Rosemary moved to Mt. Angel Towers Retirement Facility.

A Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., at Mt. Angel Towers on Tues., Sept. 17th and a Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 a.m., Wed., Sept. 18th at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mt. Angel. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Father Taaffe Foundation or St. Joseph's Shelter in Mt. Angel.

The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Lackides and his staff as well as Willamette Valley Hospice for all their care and concern. Arrangements are by Unger Funeral Chapel.
