SALEM - Ernest Edward (Ernie) Clay was born in Duncan, Oklahoma on June 25, 1941 to Floyd and Mildred Clay. He graduated from McMinnville High School in 1959. After graduation, Ernie trained for four years in the local union trade school focusing on sheet metal fabrication, subsequently working in both Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 16 and 66. Ernie was married to his best friend Teri Clay for almost 40 years. Between Ernie's' and Teri's they had 6 children total, 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Ernie is also survived by his younger sister, Linda McMillan.
