Karen Florence Henkel

January 12, 1928 - April 25, 2014

Born January 12, 1928 to Gunnar and Katherine Nelson in Sioux City, Iowa. Karen was the oldest of 5 children. She married Lloyd R. Henkel on December 23, 1945. Karen graduated from Bishop Conaty Girls Catholic High School.

Karen worked at Cascade High School for many years, retiring in 1977. She was a second mom to many students.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents and oldest son, Raymond. Brothers Joe, Bud and Iggie. She is survived by her husband of almost 68 years, LLoyd, her sister, Katie Mae (Gene) Mahoney, Hisperia, CA. Her sons, Greg (Shirley) of Salem, Peter (Becca) of Yerrinton, Nevada, Chris, Shaw, OR, daughters, Robin and Jessica (Shane) of Shaw.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sean, Cactus, Christie, Ray, Wendie, Greg II, Stephanie, Jeff, Lloyd Carlos, Jessica and Zane. 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3 at 10:00 at St. Mary's Catholic church in Shaw.

In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Cascade High School in care of Steve Turner, 10226 Marion Road SE, Turner, Oregon 97392. For memorial tree and plaque and an endowment program for children.
