March 22, 1927 - March 5, 2013
SALEM - LaVerda Mae Harder entered into the presence of the Lord on March 5, 2013. Verdie was born March 22, 1927 in Jansen, Nebraska to Pete and Sarah Rempel. She moved with her parents to Oregon in 1942. Verdie enjoyed playing saxophone in the band and marching in parades. In 1947, she married Clarence "Dutch" Harder, who preceded her in death in 1989. She loved her work of 30 years at Ladd & Bush Bank, and enjoyed family trips to the beach, central Oregon - camping, fishing and water skiing as well as more adventurous trips overseas with husband and friends. She loved singing in her church choir and playing the piano. Bowling with her father was a highlight. Reading and fun with friends were always a delight.
Verdie is survived by her children, Chris (Jim) Clay; Gil (Carol) Harder; Gordy (Gail) Harder; Gary (Carma) Cops; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Restlawn Funeral Home will host her viewing on Tuesday, March 12, 9 am - 4:30 pm. Private interment will be at City View Cemetery. Our family invites you to join us for her Memorial Service on Wednesday, March 13, 2 pm at Salem Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 555 Gains Street NE, Salem.
Memorial gifts may be sent to Campus Crusade for Christ, Attn: Brenda Friesen, Acct. #0016944, P.O. Box 628222, Orlando, FL 32862. Thank you for all your prayers and encouragements to our family.
