Leland (Lee) Albert Anderson

September 5, 1931 - April 3, 2014

Lee Anderson, 82 went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 3rd in Salem, Oregon, surrounded by his family.

Lee was born in Sloan, Iowa and grew up in Wasco, Oregon on his family's wheat ranch. He graduated from Oregon State University where he was a member of Kappa Delta Rho and was commissioned through ROTC. He worked for Show Walter Lynch Advertising Agency in Portland following graduation, then went into the US Army as an artillery officer where he served for 3 years in Germany.

He returned to Portland to join the Oregon National Guard where he served as aide de camp to a number of Generals and as State Protocol Officer for several Governors, ultimately retiring as a Major.

Lee and his wife, Darlene were High School/College sweethearts and were married for 61 devoted and loving years.

Lee lived a very active and social life. He liked to garden, landscape, travel and read. He was an avid OSU football fan and active in the St. Mark Lutheran Fine Arts Guild. He also served on the Edgar Smith Fine Arts Board as President and was President for many years of the Arts in Oregon Council. He was also a member of Illahe Hills Country Club.

Lee took great pride in his involvement with his community. Lee was a loan Executive from the Military Department for the United Way Mid-Willamette Valley and an active member of the Salem Chamber of Commerce. He served as a Senior Greeter Ambassador, contributing many hours with The First Citizen Committee and The Salem Show Biz annual events.

Lee is survived by his wife, two daughters: Pamela Anderson Bellin and Debra Anderson Cline; Grandsons - Alexander Lee and Jarrett Tyler (JT) Bellin, and Daniel Owen (DJ) Cline; his brother Stanley Anderson and son in laws Robert Bellin and Daniel Cline.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mark Lutheran Church at 790 Marion St NE, Salem, Oregon on Saturday, April 12th at 1:00pm. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow at Illahe Hills Country Club, 3376 Country Club Dr. S, Salem, Oregon. Interment will be at Sunrise Cemetery in Wasco, Oregon at a later date. Contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
