Lewis Earl Bleakney
November 28, 1934 - September 5, 2013
SILVERTON - Lewis Earl Bleakney ("Earl") lived his whole life in the Silverton area. Born November 28, 1934, in the Silverton Hospital, he lived in the Hills near what is now Silver Falls State Park with his parents, Jaye and Ivol, his brother, James and sister, Shirley.
Earl married a Hills neighbor, Nancy Benson, in 1958. Together they raised three children, Leann, Dean and Joann on the same farm that was Nancy's childhood home. He raised cattle, farmed grass seed and managed the timber on the property. After he retired from farming he enjoyed going to antique shops and shows in search of colorful pottery pieces.
Earl died September 5, 2013. He is survived by his wife Nancy, brother Jim, sister Shirley, his three children and his faithful little dog Danny.
A celebration of life will be held later in the fall with details announced soon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that the rememberances be in the form of donations to the Oregon Daschund Rescue, the Silverton Historical Society or the
. The family is also respectfully requests every person over the age of 50 years contact his or her doctor and schedule the procedure to screen for colorectal cancer. Arrangements by Unger Funeral Chapel, Silverton.
