MEAD, CO - A memorial service, celebrating the life of Peggy J. Jennings, 85, will be held May 11, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service, 605 Commercial St. SE.
Peggy died peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at her home in Mead, Colorado, where she spent the last year and a half living with her daughter and son-in-law Roy, following an extended illness.
She was raised in Oklahoma, and later moved to Texas, where she met and married Herbert Jennings on November 21, 1947. They were married for 61 years at the time of his death.
She started on her path of careers as professional registered nurse. While living in Texas she worked for a company called SIE, which is now known as Texas Instruments, working on the components (wire wraps) used for the space capsule used by John Glenn.
She was a waitress and managed a number of restaurants in Texas and Oregon.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved fishing. Her favorite pastime was feeding and watching the squirrels in her backyard in Salem.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters, her husband Herbert and baby daughter Anita Joyce.
She is survived by her loving family: one sister Opal Denney of Amarillo, Texas, her daughter Jody Orback and husband Roy of Mead, Colorado, two sons, James and wife Shawna, Ray and wife Cindy both of Salem, six grandchildren, Tonia, Samantha, Augusta, Orren, Sara and Jolene, seven great-grandchildren, Ethan, Serena, Sean, Elise, Taylor, Makenzie and Nick.
Cremation was in trusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, Longmont, Colorado. Interment will be at Belcrest Memorial Park, 1295 Browning Ave. S., Salem.
