Raymond Lawrence Long

September 9, 1937 - April 23, 2014

Raymond was born in Sacramento, CA, the first of two children born to Oscar and Irene Stolz. After his father died at a young age his mother married F. Alan Long. Raymond was raised in California. He married and had one daughter. He moved to Oregon in the 70's where he married Margarita Zavala. They were married 34 years.

Raymond served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier. He worked for Lox Equipment in Livermore, CA, spent four years in Saudi Arabia as a purchasing agent working for Bechtel Corp. In Oregon he worked for PGE (Trojan) and the Port of Portland. He loved cars and working with them. He was artistic, painted and did stained glass work. He also loved antiques and collected many.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and step-father. Survivors include his wife, Margarita of Salem; daughter, Laurie of California; two grandsons, one granddaughter, and one great granddaughter, Brooklyn born April 22, 2014 all of California; sister Barbara Nelson (Lee), brother, Alan Long (Maryellen) both of Salem; three nephews and great nieces and nephews; as well as brothers and sisters of Margarita.

At his request, no public service will be held. Serving the family is City View Funeral Home.
