Sylvia Darlene Williamson

March 29, 1921 - March 24, 2014

Sylvia Darlene (Gosnell) Williamson was born to Samuel Ed and Cora (Eshelman) Gosnell March 29, 1921, the youngest of 8 children, in Fontanelle, Iowa. Raised on a farm, she learned at an early age to plant, harvest and preserve food for the family. She was the loving mother of 3 children, Gaye (Williamson) Stewart, Albert L. Olson and Denise (Olson) Green and the grandmother of 5, great-grandmother of 9 and the great-great-grandmother of 1.

She was a rancher in Coos County for many years and returned to the Salem area when she retired 30 years ago. She was a seamstress for the family, enjoyed gardening of all types and entered produce and baked goods in the County Fairs. She was crowned the "Queen of the Polk County Fair" in 1995. Her many hobbies included crocheting, pottery-making, basket-making with pine needles, reading, doing puzzle books and tending her garden, filled with flowers.

Darlene passed from this life, surrounded by "her 3 girls" (Deni, Tami and Gaye), just 5 days before her 93rd birthday. Her funeral service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014, 1 pm at Restlawn Funeral Home, 201 Oak Grove Road NW, Salem (www.restlawnfh.com).
