Lucille Martin Treviranus, 95, passed away surrounded by her family. She was born on March 10, 1919, at the home of her parents near Palouse, Washington. She was the fifth child of Andrew and Della Martin. She attended school in Palouse and graduated from Palouse High School in 1937. She was named Miss Palouse during her senior year. She married Byron Henry of Palouse on January 1, 1940. They lived in Pullman, Washington, and Moscow, Idaho, where they owned appliance and furniture stores. They were divorced in 1970. On March 20, 1971, she married George Treviranus and moved to Boise, Idaho. They moved to Salem, Oregon, in 1986.
Lucille spent a good portion of early life working. During school, and until she was married, she was a telephone operator and a movie usher. After her marriage she was active in running the stores with her first husband.
After her children came, Lucille devoted her time to their activities - helping with school functions and running both a Camp Fire Girls group and a Boy Scout troop. She was active in several women's groups in Moscow and in her church in whatever town she lived.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, by her brother, Herb, and her three sisters, Ruby, Leora, and Sula. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lu and husband, Mick, of Salem, Oregon, and her son, David and wife, Marci, of Pasco, Washington, her six grandchildren and six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, April 12, 2014, at John Knox Presbyterian Church in Keizer. Lucille's remains will be placed in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland next to her husband, George. In lieu of flowers, Lucille suggested contributions to John Knox Presbyterian Church, 452 Cummings LN N, Keizer, OR 97303.
