Erma "Faye" Munkers|

Erma "Faye" Munkers passed away on March 18th at the age of 98. She was born near Heppner, Oregon on May 15, 1915, to Omer C. and Elizabeth Dickey Luttrell. She was the fifth of six daughters. Her early childhood was spent in Joseph, Grass Valley, and Moro. In 1929 the family moved to Lexington where she went to school and graduated in 1934. It was there that she met Vernon E. Munkers. They were married June 2nd, 1934 and they spent almost 60 years together. They lived in Heppner for 6 years during which time a daughter was born. In 1940 they moved to Vernon's parent's ranch on Clarks Canyon outside of Lexington and lived there until they retired and moved to Salem in 1975.
Faye was a very likable, friendly woman and was very much into doing for others and served in many community boards and did volunteer work in Heppner and in Salem, her last service being in Salem at Meals on Wheels, 6 years and Plantation (now Evergreen) Care Center for 10 years. She was a member of Holly Bebeka Lodge and the Degree of Honor Protective Assn. She has been a member of the First Christian Church for 40 years. She had a deep and abiding love in her belief and in the Lord.
Her husband, Vernon, parents, and five sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Ross of Salem; a grandson, two granddaughters, three great-granddaughters and two great-great-granddaughters.
A celebration of Faye's life will be held Thursday, April 17 at 1pm at First Christian Church Sanctuary. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Union Gospel Mission or a
