Greta "Dawn" (Condart) Suiter, 98, of Salem passed away Tuesday, April 15th at the home of her daughter Judy Ames in Turner. Dawn was surrounded by many of her family members when she died of age related causes.
She was born Oct. 21, 1915 in Myrtle Creek, Oregon and grew up attending schools in Myrtle Creek, Portland and Drain, Oregon.
She married Ray Suiter on May 14, 1939 in Cook, Washington with a marriage that lasted 74 years. They lived in Cottage Grove, Eugene, Brookings, Albany and Salem as they raised their six children. Ray preceded Dawn in death in October, also at the age of 98.
Dawn was an artist with paintings enjoyed by many friends and family members. She won awards with some of her paintings. She will also be remembered for her outstanding cooking which included wonderful pies, cookies, donuts and homemade bread. She also was an excellent seamstress.
She is survived by sons Norman (Mary) of Sweet Home, and Russ (Rhonda) of Brookings; daughters Nancy Ruebush of Brookings; Peggy (Dale) Turpin of Reedsport, Judy (Mick) Ames of Turner and Eva (Randy) Canoy of Salem, and cousins Lloyd and Susie Russell of Grants Pass, plus 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to Ray, Dawn was preceded in death by her father Charles Condart, mother Norma Waters, infant son Leon, granddaughter Terry Turpin, grandson Byron Suiter and son-in-law Harold Ruebush.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Willamette Valley Hospice and Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service for the support and comfort. Also, thank you to Deby from Visiting Angels for the comfort and joy she gave Mom. Donations may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice.
At Dawn's request there will be no funeral service, however a Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.
