March 1, 1927 - April 30, 2014

Donald Edward Keyes was born March 1, 1927, in Devils Lake, North Dakota to parents Edward and Leona Keyes. Donald and his family moved to Oakville Community in 1936 and attended school at Oakville and graduated from Corvallis High School in 1944. He attended Oregon State College from 1945 to 1948. Donald married Dana Grinde in 1963. He is survived by wife Dana and one son, Michael E. Keyes of Estacada. In 1946, he started working for the Oregon Department of Transportation that took him all over the state during his career of 37 years. He worked in all phases of highway planning, design and construction. His last 10 years with the Transportation Division was spent working with other agencies and organizations and nearly two years during 1951 and 1952 working with the Corps of Engineers in Okinawa. After his retirement in 1986, he and Dana tackled with gusto, a lifetime dream of traveling the world. Together, they took 27 cruises which took them to Russia 5 times as well as 3 safaris in Africa. Donald enjoyed hunting and was successful in moose hunting in Canada, 11 times. They traveled throughout the United States and visited large antique shows in the East. He was a Life Member of the Salem Elks #336 and a member of Four Corners Rod and Gun Club. At Donald's request, no public services will be held. His Urn will be privately placed at Willamette Memorial Park Mausoleum in Albany.
