Marjorie A. (Midge) Yung|
April 17, 1927 - May 6, 2014
Midge was born on Easter in Reno, Nevada to Tom & Bernice Baker. The family moved to Oregon in 1935, locating in Amity and then Rickreall, Oregon. She graduated from Amity High School in 1945. After graduation, she attended Harvey Loveall Beauty School and had her own Salon for several years. While in Beauty School, a classmate introduced her to her brother, Roy Reno Yung. After a six-month romance, she and Roy were married on December 29, 1946.
Three children were born in Salem, and after her beauty career, Midge worked at Meier & Frank in Salem for ten years. In 1972, Roy and Midge moved to Gresham, where Roy was an insurance agent and Midge managed his office until retirement in 1990.
After retiring, Midge and Roy split their time between winters in Yuma, Arizona and summers performing Camp Host duties for the North Santiam Sportsmen's Club at Detroit Lake for over 15 years. These years were some of the most memorable years for Midge and Roy, as they hosted many family gatherings at the Lake.
Midge is survived by her husband of 67 years and all three of her children. They are Janet (Phil) White of Bend, Joyce (Doug) Knights, and Ray Yung (Rae Wilde) of Salem. Also surviving are two grandchildren Erinn Olson and Traci Knights, as well as two great-grandchildren.
The family would especially like to thank all of the staff at Cedar Village Memory Care for their expert and loving care they provided to Midge over the last over two years. We also want to thank that certain friend of the family (you know who you are) for your help and support up to and through the end of Midge's journey.
A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at First Christian Church, 685 Marion Street, N.E. in Salem. Memorials can be made to First Christian Church. Arrangements are being provided by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
