Robert Aaron R.A. Baxley Sr.

November 30, 1916 - May 18, 2014

Robert Aaron Baxley has joined his eternal family. Born in Eustace, Texas to Elijah and Susie Alice (Watley) Baxley. A salutatorian graduate of Quitman, Texas's high school in 1936. A WWII technical sergeant veteran with the medical detachment, 144th Infantry Regiment, 36th Division from 1941 to 1945. He married Virginia J. Butler on September 1, 1942. Following the war, they made Greeley, Colorado their home for 30 years. He was a Mortician and Funeral Director there and in Medford, Oregon. He also was a sales manager with a national industrial laundry in Colorado, Arkansas and Tennessee. Upon retirement they moved to Salem, Oregon. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and was Past Grand of the IOOF, and the American Legion for over 50 years. In his final years, he began a Christian ministry outreach for truckers and RVer's. He is survived by his loving wife, Ginny of 72 years, sons Robert Jr. and Russell Baxley of Colorado; G. Benjamin Baxley of Florida and daughter Julie Rinella of California, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of nephews and nieces.

A Salem service will be at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service on Friday, May 23 at 2:00 pm and he will be buried in Greeley, Colorado with military honors at Linn Grove Cemetery.
