Allesandro S. Gori Jr. (Alex) died May 23, 2014 in Salem, OR. Born Feb, 17, 1935 in Healdsburg, CA to Allesandro S. Gori, Sr. and Stella Robinson. He was called Sandrino as a child and spoke Italian until First Grade. Later he became known as Alex. After graduating from Geyserville High School in 1952 he worked in the wine industry, served two years in the U.S. Army and then studied to become an electrician with the IBEW Union.

Also survived by his sister Stella Marie Cantarutti of Novato, CA and her family.

Alex married Joyce Hammock Chesbro in 1993. They enjoyed moving to the Oregon Coast near Waldport, and then to the Salem area. Together they traveled to Italy, visiting his cousins in Tuscany. They toured Britain and then returned twice to London, a city they loved.

As Alex dealt with memory loss he found pleasure in nature during long walks. Joyce thanks the Alzheimer's support groups for providing the information she needed to become a caregiver. During the past 15 months he made many wonderful young friends who cared for him so well at Rosewood Court Memory Care, Tierra Rose, And Gibson Creek. Willamette Valley Hospice was there with invaluable care and support. At his request, no service will be held. Arrangements are by City View Funeral Home.
