Monty A. Akeyson|
September 18, 1943 - June 25, 2014
Monty Albert Akeyson passed away, surrounded by his family, on June 25, 2014 in Salem, Oregon.
Monty was born in Redmond, Oregon to Betty E. and Montie E. Akeyson as the youngest of five children. He would grow up to be an avid fisherman, Oregon National Guardsman, U.S. Army Military Police veteran, logger, and Oregon Department of Corrections Retiree. Most importantly, a husband, father and grandfather.
Monty married the love of his life, Linda, on April 2, 1967. In their 47 years together they raised 3 children, reveled in 7 grandchildren, lived an adventure in West Berlin, Germany and enjoyed a lifetime as Oregonians. He loved every minute of it.
Monty is survived by his wife Linda; their 3 children; Bethany Erntson of Ontario, Oregon, Paul and Tina Akeyson of Salem and Monty J. Akeyson of Salem. As much as he loved his children, his grandkids were the light of his life: Cody Akeyson, Jakob and Lisa Erntson, Paige Akeyson, Scott Akeyson, Alexa Akeyson, Kaleb Erntson, and Josephine Akeyson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Monty was preceded in death by his parents and 4 older siblings.
Monty was a man that worked hard, helped any way he could, and loved his family. He was friend to many, and stranger to few. He taught us by example to do the same. We love you Dad and Thank You. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
