Sharon Cox Stevens|
June 3, 1948 - July 7, 2014
We lost Sharon on July 7, 2014 at the age of 66, after her valiant 27 day struggle to recover from a major cardiac event.
Sharon was born in Aberdeen, Washington. She was a graduate of Hoquiam High School; Washington State University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa; and McGeorge School of Law, where she was an Editor of the Law Review and graduated Cum Laude, with Honors.
Sharon began her law career in the Marion County District Attorney's office as a Deputy D.A. She later moved into private practice, spending the last 20 years as a partner in Callahan & Stevens with her husband Michael Callahan. She was a meticulous and well-respected litigator.
During her professional career, Sharon was a member of the Marion County Bar and Oregon Bar Associations. She was extremely active in the American Bar Association, serving as a Section Delegate to the American Bar Association and on the American Bar Association Board of Governors. She also proudly had the distinction of being the first woman to be elected to serve as the Chair of the American Bar Association General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Section.
In addition to her professional activities, Sharon loved to travel. She also loved the quiet and beauty of spending time with her husband of twenty four years, Michael and her award winning Bouvier de Flanders, Cosmo, at their condo at the beach.
....To a Classy Lady with whom we drank champagne at the Eiffel Tower and danced at the Copacabana, you will be deeply missed. At Sharon's request, services will be private. Donations in Sharon's memory maybe made to the Willamette Humane Society, Ava Baby Dachshund Fund, 4246 Turner Road SE, Salem, Oregon 97317. Assisting the family Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
