Helen Slyh, a resident of Dallas, Oregon died on Wednesday, July 16th in Salem. She was born on September 17, 1922 in Chester, Oklahoma the daughter of Robert and Minneola Coulter. Helen married Jimmy Slyh on June 4, 1942 in Seattle, Washington. They settled in Dallas, Oregon in 1945. Helen worked for the Blue Lake Cannery for many years. She later worked at the Oregon State Hospital in food services and retired from there in 1984. Helen enjoyed working, cooking, gardening and of course her soap operas. She also was a faithful Portland Trail Blazer Fan. Helen loved spending time with all of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy Slyh on September 20, 1997.
She is survived by her daughter, Beatrice (Tom) Mandemaker, grandchildren Jenny Morrow-Dennison and Rob (Vero) Morrow, great grandchildren Jasmyn Troncoso, Madeline Dennison, Charlie Morrow and Keoni Morrow.
The Funeral Service will be on Sunday, July 20th at 2:00pm at Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. Interment will be in Dallas Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Willamette Humane Society in care of Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center, 287 SW Washington St. Dallas, Oregon 97338 who is caring for the family.
