John E. "Jack" Babbitt|
May 2, 1938 - July 8, 2014
John E. "Jack" Babbitt, age 76, died peacefully surrounded by his family after a valiant battle with cancer.
Jack was born in Dayton, Washington, to Clifford and Lavonne Babbitt, the youngest of three children. He later moved to Ashland, Oregon, where he attended high school. Jack married early and had six children: Cyndy Wood, Dana Babbitt Rensi, John Babbitt Jr., Kelly Van Ortwick, Tim Babbitt and Chuck Babbitt.
He married the love of his life, Roberta "Bobbie" Babbitt in 1975 and welcomed a step-daughter, Becky Husser. Jack and Bobbie lived briefly in Medford, Klamath Falls, Portland and later in Salem where they made their home. He is survived by a brother, Don, and ten nieces and nephews, as well as 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bobbie, and sister, Fern.
Jack loved the outdoors. Some of his favorite times were spent hunting and fishing, especially with his good friend, Gerry Hough, who also preceded him in death. Many a summer were spent camping and water skiing with his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Fish Lake on September 6th at 1pm for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
