Ruth Delores Rae|
July 31, 1927 - July 19, 2014
On July 19, 2014, Ruth Rae died peacefully at Avamere in Keizer where she had lived for several years.
Ruth was born in Salem to Maude (Weaver) Rae and Roy Rae on July 31, 1927 - the third of four children. She attended schools in Salem, as well as in Amity, where her family moved on to a farm when she was in her teens.
Ruth worked as a secretary at the State Tax Commission before moving to Palo Alto/Bay Area where she lived for 25 years. Ruth held clerical positions at Lockheed, Beckman Industries, and Syntex Labs. She enjoyed babysitting, and traveled in Europe and Hawaii.
Returning to Salem in 1983, Ruth delivered Meals-on-Wheels, and worked for Salem's schools. She adored her poodle mix dog, Benji. Ruth was a Salem Rose Society member. She loved people, saw the humor in life, and she had a deep Christian faith. She was always a fun person to be around.
She is survived by her nieces Susan Lundin, Janet Remont, Donna and Sherry Rae, and nephews Max Rae and Gene Stoutenburg, and by their children and grandchildren, who all knew her as "Aunt Ruth".
Siblings Lorraine Nelson, Donald Rae and Lloyd Rae predeceased her.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem YWCA. Private family services are under the direction of City View Funeral Home.
