Mary Louise Thompson died Tuesday, August 5th at Mid Valley Medical Center, McMinnville, Oregon, after a short illness. She was 89 years old.

Louise was born in Bend, Oregon, the elder of two daughters born to L. Frank Foster and Mary D. Libel Foster, on December 31, 1924. She grew up in Bend, attending Catholic elementary school and graduating from Bend High School in December of 1941.

She married Francis W. Thompson of Sheridan, Oregon, on February 7, 1942. He was being sent off for training in the U.S. Army for World War II. She later joined him and accompanied him as he moved to a number of posts in the United States. He was an MP and worked stateside in the war effort. While they were in Michigan their first child, Larry, was born in 1944.

In 1945 Louise moved to Sheridan and Francis joined her when he was released from the Army. Their daughter Susan was born in 1946 and their third child, Patti, was born in 1948.

Louise and Francis spent the rest of their married life in Sheridan. Louise sold Stanley products, worked at the Rexall Drug Store and at Sheridan Bakery.

She was very active in the community. She belonged to the FL Club (and served a term as State President), Ethel Rebeccas, Study Club and Home Extension. She also volunteered for the Red Cross for 25 years and the American Cancer Society for 20 years. She delivered senior meals for many years and she was chosen to be a member of the Phil Sheridan Days Senior Court. Louise was a member of the Methodist Church and actively worked on the rebuilding of the church after the fire.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Francis in 1991. She is survived by her three children, Larry Thompson, wife LuAnn, of Lander, Wyoming, Susan Brandt, husband John, of Stayton, Oregon, Patti Levy of McMinnville, Oregon, six grandchildren and one great grandchild, with another on the way. She is also survived by her younger sister Marge Wilson of Bend and her three children and their families.

She loved and was loved and will be missed…

At her request there will be no service. A private family interment will take place in Bend, Oregon.
