Joyce "Jo" Erler Obituary
Joyce "Jo" E. (Spady) Erler

February 8, 1023 - August 14, 2014

Jo Erler was born in Stanford, MT. She married Clarence "John" Erler at an aunt's home in Seattle, WA on April 2, 1943. Jo worked for Prudential Insurance, and as a telephone operator during part of WWII. She worked for Salem Sand and Gravel as an accounting clerk while her children were in grade school. Jo also ran a babysitting daycare service out of her home while her children were young. When her three children were in high school and middle school, Jo worked for Salem Public Schools 24J, where she served at Leslie Middle School and Kennedy Elementary School. From there, she moved to the District Administration office. As Jo and John neared retirement they entered into a partnership at Brookwood Terrace Apartments.

She enjoyed singing in the choir at church and also loved to travel. She kept busy following the sporting events, concerts and various activities of her grandchildren, of whom she loved to brag about.

Jo is survived by her three children and their spouses; Charlotte L and Darrell Nielsen, Rodney C. and Gloria "Jean" Erler and Delores I and Gary Pederson. She has eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Lillian Spady.

Memorial service will be at Salem's First Presbyterian Church at 2 pm on Friday, August 22, 2014. A private interment will be at City View Cemetery Mountain View Garden Mausoleum under the direction of City View Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Union Gospel Mission or the First Presbyterian Church's music department.
