Emma Alice Quick Obituary
Emma Alice Quick

April 22, 1923 - August 15, 2014

Emma Quick died on August 15, 2014, in Silverton, Oregon. She was born in Lublin, WI to Joseph and Anna Soper. She grew up on the family farm near Lublin, helping her parents and five brothers with raising crops and dairy cattle. After high school graduation, she moved to Chicago, IL, and went to work for Proctor and Gamble. During this time, her soon-to-be husband, Malan Quick, completed his military service and they were married in Chicago on May 6, 1944.

In 1951, they moved to Salem with their son Dennis, and soon to be born daughter, Nancy. She was "mom" while the kids were still in elementary school, then worked as a clerk for Montgomery Ward and then later as an assistant cook for the Salem School District at Parrish Junior High School.

After Malan's retirement, they enjoyed many seasons travelling in their camper or motor home visiting sunnier climates during the winter months. They later had a space at Taylor Park, which they enjoyed greatly beginning in 1971.

After her husband's death in 1990, Emma continued to live at the family home in Southeast Salem. She enjoyed spending her time with her "Golden Girl" friends and her family. She is survived by her son, Dennis Quick of Salem, daughter Nancy Robertson (Robby) of Wilsonville and three grandchildren, Emily Quick of Portland, Nathalie Quick of Newberg, and Jason Boussard of Houston, TX.

A private service will be held. Contributions can be made to Willamette Valley Hospice in her memory, as they were so helpful to her in her final days. Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service assisted the family.
