Anna Kehler Obituary

"Oma" Anna Kehler

May 24, 1926 - August 12, 2011

SALEM - Anna was born in Cilli, Slovenia to Johann and Josephine Plechl.

In 1944 her family became one ot the many German refugees fleeing the former Yugoslavia to Austria, leaving behind farm, vineyard and most of their possessions. She married Gunther Kehler in 1946 and had two children. The marriage ended in divorce after her husband joined the French Foreign Legion. In 1955 Anna, her parents, children and two siblings came to Lebanon, Oregon to join a sister already living here. Her family later moved to Salem and she lived with her parents. In 1980, Anna was able to move to Kingwood West where she resided for 15 years before moving in with her daughter. Anna suffered from Epilepsy all of her adult life but always made sure her children's needs came first.

She is preceded in death by her parents and youngest sister Franzi Plech. She is survived by her children Peter Kehler, Franzi Coffey and her life partner James Malsam who was also Anna's most loving care giver; grandchildren, Karl and Cindy Jacobson and sons Kameron and Kyler, Michelle and Robert Rizer, Robin Kehler and son Devo, Sonia Kehler and daughter Vela, Erik Soderlind, Rayne and Bryan Kennedy and son Otto; sisters, Katrina Stevanov, Maria Ewinger, Betty and Ernie Ross, Rosalia and Rene Redelsperger; brother, John and Judy Plechl and many nieces and nephews.

We wish to thank Dr. Thomas Stevens for his many years of kind and gentle eye care, Dr. Benton Davidson for freeing her last few yers of most of her seizures, the staff of Salem Hospital and Odyssey Hospice. In lieu of flowers we suggest donations to Epilepsy or Parkinson's Disease research or Odyssey Hospice. A memorial service will be held at a later date, please call her daughter for details. Arrangements entrusted to Keizer Funeral Chapel.
