Freda Clay Obituary

Freda Ullrich Clay

June 12, 1918 - May 14, 2012

SALEM - Freda was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, a great-great grandmother and my mother in law. When she was a girl she worked in a place that made ice-cream bars. After they were hand-cut into bars, she would hook each bar with a wire and dip it into a tub of chocolate. This was a perfect job for Freda because she LOVED ice-cream. We all enjoyed her homemade ice-cream at family events and her famous potato salad. I marveled at how she could work all day at her State job, come home and make marion berry pies, and can 100's of quarts of green beans which she donated to the FRIENDS church she attended in Salem. While she was resting (sleeping) she could crochet a baby's outfit in one night. A very dedicated and hard working person.

We had great fun together in Hawaii where she was amased at how bananas grew, how fun helecopters were, and the ocean was really warm--she and my mom would try to hold each other up in the surf, quite a sight! She enjoyed family reunions, so we took her back to her roots in Broken Bow, Nebraska. She was one of the last "old timers". What a nice time to share with her. A very hard working lady that shared her son, Ron, with me for 38 years and counting! Our Thanks to "For-get-me nots" for the excellent care you gave Freda.
