KEIZER - Ronald Tippets, of Keizer, OR, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 while en route to Yuma, AZ with his wife.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Nola Albertson Tippets; one sister, Alice Shields, of Knoxville, TN; his son, RJ Tippets of Keizer, OR; his daughter, Ronda Tippets Meuwissen (husband, Michael), of Houston, TX; grandsons Tyler Meuwissen (wife, Alexi) of Portland, OR, and Sam Meuwissen (wife, Shay), of Frisco, TX; and one great-grandson, Cruise Meuwissen.
Ronald J. Tippets was born Jan. 13, 1928 in Arco, Idaho to parents Robert Tippets and Irene Hochstrasser Tippets. He spent his elementary school years in Arco and Boise, ID, received his bachelor's in Education from Idaho State and his master's in Education from Utah State. He also attended Columbia University and University of Oregon.
He met his wife, Nola Albertson, at Idaho State and they were married in 1951 in Hazelton, ID.
His lifetime career was spent in education and he supported many civic organizations. He served as a public school superintendent for 30 years, including the districts of Arco and Soda Springs in ID, and Central Linn School District and North Marion School District in OR. He retired from the Linn Benton Education Services District in 1986.
A memorial will be held, Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 2-4 p.m. at the McNary Golf Course club house in Keizer, OR. Burial services will be held in July in Twin Falls, ID. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to local school districts.
