Robert William Alt

January 19, 1953 - April 8, 2013

KEIZER - Bob Alt, 60, passed away unexpectedly at home of natural causes. Bob lived a life full of positive energy and rarely was seen without a smile, a smile which was contagious to all who saw him. He had a love and passion for the wilderness and appreciated the beauty of all God's creations. He will be greatly missed by the many people who loved him; friends, family and most of all his children.

Born "Bobby Kong" in Seoul, Korea during the Korean War, Bobby's birth mother died shortly after childbirth leaving Bobby an orphan. "Adopted" by the US Army, Bobby lived for several years on the army base in Korea before being officially adopted by Raymond & Elsie Alt through the Holt Adoption Agency. Arriving in Portland on Thanksgiving Day in 1957, Bobby became Robert W. Alt.

Bob attended McNary High School and was active in tennis and his booming voice made him a natural yell king on the rally squad. Making Salem/Keizer his home, Bob served as a firefighter with the Salem Fire Dept 1975-84 and then was involved in construction in one form or another until the present. Married to Cynde Stuart in 1979 together they have two children; Max Alt (Salem) and Alyce Alt (Madison, AL) Bob's children were his pride and joy. Bob and Cynde later divorced in 2007.

Bob is survived by his two children, his mother, sister Patty Ignatowski (Gerry), brother Tim Alt, niece Crystal Ignatowski, and nephew Raymond Alt. Preceded in death by his father.

A Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Salem OR on Friday April 26th 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Bob Alt Memorial Fund at Willamette Valley Bank, Keizer OR.
