Ruby Ringnalda Zegers

Ruby died peacefully surrounded by her family on May 15, 2013 from complications related to pneumonia. Ruby was born June 7, 1929, in Los Angeles, California to parents, Reinder Theunis "Ren" Ringnalda and Dieuwke "Dorothy" Vand der Kooi were both immigrants from Bergum, Netherlands where Ren was a farmer. They arrived in New York City on Christmas Eve, 1927 aboard the ship the "Ryndam". Ruby was raised in Lynden, WA. and graduated from Lynden High School. She moved to Oregon in 1968. She retired from Country Companies and later went to work part time for Dr. Louisa Silva. Ruby liked to spend her time feeding and watching the wild birds in her yard, planting and growing flowers, reading and traveling in the USA and Holland. Her family, friends and Christian Faith were very important to her. Ruby was a member of the Sunnyslope Christian Reformed Church where she volunteered in may capacities including leading a bible study, helping with Church Camp and Vacation Bible School, calling on the shut ins and arranging for Sunday Services Church Greeters. Ruby was president of Oregon Beginning Experience for several years, belonged to a book club, and was a member of her beloved group of the "Chosen Sisters". Ruby is survived by her son Irvin (Marsha) Zegers of San Bernardino, CA; daughter Gloria (Dennis) Brink of Eugene, OR; and daughter Janis Weyneth of Lincoln City, OR. Ruby has 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Richard (Carla) Zegers of Newport, OR. . A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on June 15, 2013 at Sunnyslope Christian Reformed Church at 197 Hrubetz Road SE with a private burial to follow at Twin Oaks Cemetery in Turner. Memorial Contributions can be made to Sunnyslope Christian Reformed Church in Ruby's name. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Center - Salem.
