Richard Lee Andres, Sr.
June 19, 1933 - February 15, 2013
SALEM - Richard was the third and youngest child born to Victoria Andres (Faulhaber) and William McKinley Andres. He was born on June 19, 1933 in Silverton, Oregon. His brother, William Jr., and sister, Kathleen Baker preceded him in death.
Richard grew up in Lebanon, Oregon and graduated from Lebanon High in 1951. He worked at the Plywood Mill for a short time then enlisted in the Army. He served as a Military Police Officer. After leaving the Army he married JoElla Sapp and they had five children. JoElla died in 1994. He then married Martha Swiger, she preceded him in death.
After moving his family to Salem in 1971, Richard worked for the City of Salem for many years. He also bought a small farm and raised many animals and a huge garden.
Richard especially loved his family. He leaves behind daughters, Robin Gerold (Randy) and Lora Sramek (Jerry); sons, Richard Jr. (Tracy), Daniel, and Darion (Christi); 11 grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters (one of which, born after his death, he talked about meeting!)
A Memorial Mass will be held at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1010 Columbia St. NE, Salem, Fr. Joseph Heuberger presiding, followed by a light reception in the Parish Hall.
