Doris Frances Evans

December 13, 1938 - June 25, 2013

Born in Mena, Arkansas; Doris was a daughter of Thomas Oscar & Edna Rose (Pickett) Hale. She married her high school sweetheart, Virgil Lee Evans Jr. in Sunnyvale, California on Oct 12, 1957. They moved their family to Oregon in 1979. They shared their love of Christ in the LDS faith, & love of raising their 5 children, and always opened their home & hearts to their children's friends and those in need. Doris was a proud full-time homemaker and mother, working as a librarian in later years at her church, the local Genealogy library and the Salem Library. Her hobbies included bird-watching, bowling, being active in her church and she was very passionate about genealogy and gardening, for which she had a true "Green "thumb". She is survived by two sisters Delma C. (Hale) Applegate and Delores A (Hale) Applegate; three sons, Virgil Lee Evans III, Timothy J Evans and Keith D. Evans; and two daughters Cynthia G. Evans and Deana M (Evans) Weaver; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother, Rufus W Hale. Visitation will be Saturday, June 29th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Virgil T Golden Funeral Service, in Salem. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 29th at 2 p.m. in the LDS Brush College Ward in West Salem. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
