Nell Campbell Obituary

Nell Bell (Barber) Campbell

August 13, 1918 - July 16, 2013

SALEM - Nell Bell (Barber) Campbell, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at age 94, due to natural causes. Nell was born August 13, 1918, in Ashland, Oregon to Willis and Kathryn Barber, the middle of six children. She often shared stories of growing up in Burns, Oregon during the Great Depression with her brothers and sisters. Other than serving her country for a short time in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, Nell lived in Oregon all of her life. A long-time resident of both John Day and Salem, Oregon, Nell was an avid swimmer, golfer, and homemaker. Nell loved to read, play bridge, and tell stories. We will all miss hearing her tell stories about her boys growing up and hearing her laughter.

She was predeceased her husband, James Robert Campbell, as well as her siblings and parents. Nell was survived by her sons: Jack W. Campbell of Portland, Oregon, and Mike E. (Sue) Campbell of Spokane, Washington, and a granddaughter, Cassandra D. (Steven) Thomas of Huntsville, Alabama.
