Quinton Duane Murren, 90, passed away at his residence in Salem, OR on December 6, 2013.
Born in Marysville, MO to Lysle and Eva Murren. He attended Braddyville High School, where he played basketball with two trips to state championship playoffs. Joined the US Navy in 1943 where he was a deep sea salvage/demolition diver.
After WW II, he moved to Cannon Beach, OR, where his parents owned Murren's Motel. Quinton built Tink`s Knotty Pine Motel nearby.
Quinton met Marjorie Wilson in Seaside, and they were married November 3, 1946. Daughters Barbara and Sandra were born in 1947 and 1950.
Quinton moved his family to Salem OR, where he worked as a meatcutter/supervisor in the grocery industry. He moved to Coos Bay, OR in 1977 to become a buyer/supervisor for McKay Markets until retiring in 1992 and returning to Salem.
In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, golf, RV trips, and traveling to Hawaii. He was an ardent Portland Trail Blazers fan.
Preceeded in death by Marjorie, his wife of 64 years, his parents and his sister Genevee Terbell. Survived by his sister Donna ( Arnold ) Reinikka, of Pennsylvania . Daughters Barbara (Michael) Logan of Seattle, WA and Sandra Parry of Salem . He dearly loved his grandchildren Becky, Kelly, Jason, Andrea and Christianne and his great-grandchildren Tyler, Jacob Alexis and Brianna and his Papillion dog Midgey.
He was a man of great character and a wonderful role model for all. We will miss him terribly.
Viewing will be at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service in Salem on December 13, 2013, from 10am to 1pm. Graveside service will follow at 2pm at Newberg Friends Community Cemetery, 500 South Everest Road , Newberg Oregon . Phil McBrien from Willamette Valley Hospice will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Willamette Valley Hospice, 1015 3rd Street NW, Salem Oregon 97304, for their supportive and loving care.
