Betty Ellison Obituary
Betty Lee Ellison

April 30, 1933 - December 31, 2013

Betty was a warm, joyful person who's passing will be deeply felt by her many friends and family.

Betty was born in Rapid City, S.D., to Francis Richardson - a highway patrolman - and Merle (Goade) Richardson - a homemaker. The family moved to Oregon in 1941 and soon bought a dairy farm in the Cottonwoods area. Eight-year-old Betty joined 4H along with brothers, Bill and Jay, showing their animals at the county and state fairs. They worked on the farm, went to school and were joined by baby sister, Judy. Betty completed her education at Albany Union High. She married the love of her life, Stanley Ellison, on Nov. 18, 1949. Betty worked as a waitress in Albany at various restaurants and eventually managed the Kopper Kitchen Restaurants in Salem and Wilsonville. Betty enjoyed her many customers and employees.

She was an avid bowler, belonging to a league that traveled to tournaments from Vegas to Key West for many years until a stroke forced her to retire in 1989.

In their retirement, Stan and Betty enjoyed trips to Palm Springs, Phoenix, Branson and Nashville. They enjoyed country music, their pets, and were always there for family. Throughout 64 years of marriage they were active and devoted to each other.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers William and Jay Richardson.

She is survived by her husband, Stan Ellison; sons Doug Ellison and wife Lynda of Albany, and Scott Ellison of Jefferson; daughter Peggy Luke and husband Steve of Jefferson; sisters Judy Elmer and husband Gail of Lyons, LuAnne and Earlene Richardson of Albany; grandchildren Mike Ellison, Traci Nofziger, Josh Ellison, Courtney Ellison, Tiffany Neufeldt and Stephanie Luke; 11 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A private interment was at the Jefferson Cemetery. A celebration of Betty's life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Millersburg City Hall. Memorial contributions to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice.
