Wayne Mills STATESVILLE Mr. Glenn Wayne Mills, 58, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at Gordon Hospice House following a lengthy illness. Mr. Mills was born Jan. 1, 1954, in Iredell County and was the son of Glenn Ralph "Bob" Mills and Bessie Bass Mills. He was a graduate of South Iredell High School and had also received extensive training in law enforcement at Mitchell Community College as well as training from other entities. Mr. Mills was married Aug. 24, 1975, to Kim Brown Mills, who survives. Prior to his disability, Mr. Mills was employed with the Statesville Police Dept, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office and he was also the former Police Chief of the town of Troutman. In addition to his mother and his wife, Mr. Mills is also survived by his "K9" son Copper; two sisters, Gail Ledford (Doug), of Asheboro and Pam Morrow (Sam), of South Point. He is further survived by his brother-in-law and wife, Randy and Judy Brown; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Wayne Mills will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at Northview Church of Christ with Minister Les Bonnett and Gene Feller officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Burial with military honors will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.
