Alfred "Al" Weedo, 81, of St. Augustine, passed away on Sept. 7, 2013, at his home, exactly one week after his wife Connie passed away at home. He was born in and raised in Clifton, N.J., and served the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Al enjoyed a 25 year with A&P Grocery Store in Newark, N.J. where he retired as a bakery manager in the mid 1970s. He moved with his wife Connie to Cooper City, Fla., in 1977 and worked for Hollywood Federal Bank and Brinks Secure Transportation. He had been a resident of St. Augustine since 2006.
He was preceded in death by his wife Connie, and his brother, William Weedo. He is survived by daughters, Donna Macaluso of Toms River, N.J.; a son, Richard Weedo of Lyndhurst, N.J.; a brother, Joseph Weedo of Pennsylvania; a sister, Louise Weedo of Clifton, N.J.; and grandchildren, Eric Macaluso of Toms River, N.J., Nicole Bermudez of Hasbrook Heights, N.J., and Dean Macaluso. His children from Connie include daughters, Teresa Wrigley of Jupiter, Fla., Sheryl Benedict of New Smyrna, Fla., Pamela Hinshaw of Cincinnati, Ohio, and grandchildren, Tia, Sydney, Kaicee, Hayley, Darin Jr. and Carley. A memorial service for Al and Connie will take place at 3 p.m. on Sept. 15, 2013, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. A visitation, beginning at 2 p.m., will precede the service. Interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery will take place next week.
