Drayton Earl Markle Jr.

Drayton Earl Markle, Jr., 65, passed away peacefully with family by his side in Provo, Utah, Monday, May 6, 2013. Drake was born June 29, 1947, in St. Augustine, Fla., to Drayton Earl and Nellie Markle, Sr.

Drake went to the University of Florida and BYU, where he received a master of science degree in geography. He served 18 months in Vietnam, subsequently became an officer and served in the Army Reserve, and continued to serve our country as an officer in the American Legion. Drake was an educator for 30 years, most of which was spent teaching middle school.

Drake loved trains and was a model train enthusiast. He had a natural eye for landscaping, and spent many hours maintaining and beautifying his residence. His other favorite pastimes were going to movies and watching the Redskins, Gators, and Braves play. Drake"s wit and humor endeared him to many people. He loved to joke and tease.

Drake is survived by his wife Carolyn and two children, Kevin James (Erin) Markle and Marissa (Rudi) Lewis; two grandchildren, Jude and Roman Markle; sisters, Jane (Harvey) Hawkins and June Markle; and brother, Edward Markle.

A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 North 900 East, American Fork, Utah. Interment will take place at 11. am. Friday, May 10, 2013 in the American Fork Cemetery, 26 West 600 North, American Fork, Utah. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
