Kathryn Ann (Soike) Knaff

Kay Soike Knaff lost her lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis and joined her heavenly Father on March 13, 2013, at the Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. She was 48 years old. Born in Albany, N.Y., she moved to St. Augustine at the age of 15 and was a graduate of St. Augustine High School. She received her bachelor"s degree from Tulane and her master"s and license in Tennessee.

Kay authored a book and many papers designed to help therapists treat children with emotional problems, and she lectured across many states. To quote her CEO, "Kay was a remarkable person, a gifted clinician and a true warrior. Her true legacy may be the hundreds of counselors she trained and her work continues as she is featured on many training videos." Two years ago she was honored for being the most valuable social worker in western Tennessee.

Her survivors include her husband, John; sons, Evan and Jake; mother, Marian Emmel (David) in St. Augustine; father, Dr. Kenneth Soike (Mary) of Covington, La.; brothers, David (Ann) and Kevin (Kelli); nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating this beautiful life will be held mid April in Cordova, Tenn.
