Michael E. Cunningham, 71, passed away Feb. 18, 2013, at the Bailey Family Center for Caring after a long illness. He was born March 6, 1941, in Colon, Panama, to Joshua and Barbara Cunningham, both deceased. Mike had an ideal childhood growing up in the Panama Canal Zone. Mike served in the 78th Civil Engineering Squad of the United States Air Force and is a Vietnam veteran.
He attended the University of Missouri, receiving his bachelor"s degree in business. Mike was a retired federal employee who worked as an air traffic controller in Houston, the Seattle Center in Washington and the Internal Revenue Service in South Florida. Mike volunteered as a swim coach, scout leader and 4-H leader. He was a member of the NW Limousine Association and the Tomoka Gem and Mineral Society.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Virginia, children and grandchildren.
A family memorial service is planned for Feb. 24, 2013.
