Patrick James Waters

Patrick James Waters, 56, passed away peacefully in his home with family and friends by his side after losing his battle with ALS.

Born in Seattle, Wash., he and his family lived several places around the United States; however, the city he lived in the most was Lawrence, Kan. Patrick was a graduate of John Burroughs School where he was on the track, wrestling, basketball and football teams. After high school, he attended Whittier College in Whittier, Calif., where he played football and wrestled. Feeling the need to serve his country as two of his brothers and his father did, Patrick joined the United States Marine Corps where he served honorably for four years.

Patrick was an avid actor, performing in over 50 musicals, completing 200+ radio commercials, owned a talent agency and did character voices for cartoons. He was born to entertain and did so with enthusiasm. His other calling in life was working with children. Patrick loved teaching children, and the children loved learning from him. Patrick was a substitute teacher in Duval County for two years and a paraprofessional in Collier County for one year.

Patrick was predeceased by his father, George Leslie Waters, and his mother, Dorothy Corcoran Waters Putzell.

Patrick is survived by his wife, Beverly Wolfe; his daughter, Maggie Lynn of Ghent, Belgium; his son, James "Jake" Waters of Columbus, Ohio; three brothers, Merrill (Kim) Waters of Sacramento, Calif., Michael (Carol) Waters of Conroe, Texas, Tom (Diane) Waters of Georgetown, Texas; nieces, Ami Waters of Houston, Texas and Kara Waters of Dallas, Texas; Parents-in-law, Douglas and Anne Wolfe of St. Augustine, Fla.; brother-in-law, Trae (Shana) Wolfe of St. Augustine, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life event will be scheduled for a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined; those wishing to make a donation in his name to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, ALSA, Haven Hospice or Community Hospice of Northeast Florida; non-profit organizations can do so via a website that was developed for him:
