Arthur L. Brogden Jr. died on Saturday, June, 21, 2014, in St. Augustine, Fla. The son of Arthur L. Sr. and Edna Lee Brogden, he was a native of Jacksonville, Fla. He attended Georgia Military Academy in College Park, Ga. Following his service in the U.S. Army, he graduated from the University of Florida and became a proud member of the Gator Nation. GO GATORS! He made his career in commercial insurance. After many years with Insurance Company of North America and then Aetna, he became an independent agent with Wells and Co. Insurance in Indianapolis, Ind.

Arthur volunteered many hours as a Little League coach and umpire. He was also a basketball referee at the high school, college and international level.
He is survived by his best friend, Ann Hammond Brogden, whom he married in 1957. He is also survived by his sons, Arthur L. III "Skip," of Niles, Ohio; and his daughters, Sarajane and Julia Anne; Andrew H. (Julie) of Zionsville, Ind., and their children, Tara, Heather Drew and Chris; J. Barclay (Dawn) of Jacksonville, Fla., and their children, Aubrey, Ozzie and Chris; sister, Mary Lee Goethe of Jacksonville; and nephews, Brogden, Gregory and Donald Goethe.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2014, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville.
