Elizabeth Grady Burch, 83, Windermere, Fla., died Feb. 12, 2012. Betty Burch, mother of four, grandmother of eight, great-grandmother of one, wife of the late Joe S Burch, led an inspiring life of academic study, of travel and adventure, of teaching and winning at bridge, and of love and support to her family and to her many friends. Betty, born Aug. 30, 1930 in St. Augustine, had Spanish and Minorcan ancestry. In her early years, Betty lived in St. Augustine's Ocean View Hotel, owned and run by her family, the Hernandez's. Betty went to St. Joseph Academy, taught by the nuns, and graduated as Valedictorian of her high school class. Betty attended Northwestern University in Chicago and graduated in 1950 with a degree in dental hygiene, whereupon she took a job with Dr. Chase in Orlando. That's where she met her husband-to-be, Joe Burch, of Winter Garden. They raised their children in Winter Garden and then Oakland, before moving to the Windermere area of Central Florida where she remained until her passing.
The Guest Book is expired.
