Richard A. Kriss, 72, of St. Augustine, formerly of Stuart and Indiantown, passed away July 6, 2014, at Malcolm Randall VA Hospital in Gainesville. He was born March 1, 1942, in New York City, N.Y., and had been a resident of the Stuart and Indiantown area since 1957 before moving to St. Augustine in 2006. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Indiantown Volunteer Ambulance Service. He was a Teamster of Local 769 before retirement. Richard was an avid fisherman and loved boating.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Kriss of St. Augustine; mother, Elsie Pickelsimer of Stuart; brother, Ed Kriss of Stuart; son, Richard Kriss Jr. of Hobe Sound; daughter, Toni Kriss-Oliveira of Bentonville, Ark.; son, Cody Kriss of Bella Vista, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Kriss, and son, Duane Kriss.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Forest Hills Funeral Homes, Palm City Chapel.
Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Federal Point-East Palatka.
