Walter L. Hitchcock, 88, passed away Nov. 27. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, 1201 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange, FL. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.

Walter enlisted in the United States Army and served as an infantry scout in the Rainbow Division during World War II. He later joined the United States Air Force and retired as Chief Master Sergeant after 23 years of service. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed in Egypt, Turkey, the Congo, and many bases around the states. He was involved in the Air Attache, served with NATO and worked with the Department of Defense. Walter next worked with Honeywell Industries for 19 years, then Walter earned his realtors license and became a Florida Realtor and was active with the volunteer United States Coast Guard. Walter loved animals, but most of all adored his family.
Walter is predeceased by two sisters. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Alice Hitchcock; daughter, Karen and her husband, Wally Campbell of Port Orange, Fla; daughter, Ann Marie Hitchcock of Seattle, Wash; and grandson, Ross Campbell of Casselberry, Fla.
