Bernadine Catherine (Geiser) Pero

Obituary
  • "My heartfelt sympathy goes out to your family at this..."

After a three-year battle with metastasized breast cancer, Mrs. Bernadine Catherine (Geiser) Pero passed away peacefully Sept. 5, 2017, at her home with her husband, Robert H. Pero, daughter Lynn Pero and beloved friends at her side. Bernadine was known for her feisty disposition, her quick wit, the ability to tell it like she saw it, and her strong faith. She fought the good fight always trying to see the humor in each situation.
Bernie or Berna, as she was known as by her family and friends, grew up on a small dairy farm in Chilton, Wisconsin, during the Depression. After graduating from Chilton High School in 1942, she went on to attend Sheboygan Business College. She then went to work as a purchasing secretary for American Hydraulics. She left her position to help care for her nephew, Jerry Kueller, and nieces, Terease and RoseAnn Kueller, after her brother-in-law's untimely death. Sometime later she went to work for Wisconsin Public Service as a bookkeeper/cashier where she met her husband. Later the couple moved to Fremont, Ohio, and then on to Hilliard, Ohio, where they lived for 38 years. During that time Bernie stayed home to raise her three daughters, and later worked as a receptionist at Ackerson Optometry. In 2005, Bob and Bernie moved to St. Augustine. After retirement, Bob and Bernie loved to travel and spend time out on their boat and at the beach. Bob and Bernie recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in July and Bernie's 92nd birthday in August.
She is also survived by her daughters, Jean Pero Daniels and Kathryn Pero Quint; and grandchildren, Brittany Rosselot, Dawson Quint, Zachary Quint, Erica Sall, Colton Sall; and great-grandson, Wyatt Rosselot, in addition to brother, Richard Geiser and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Rose Geiser, brothers, Werner and Clarence Geiser and sisters, Mildred Gephardt and Leonella Kueller.
Her family would like to thank all those who helped her throughout her illness, especially Michelle Grant, Dr. Traci Bragg, and Lisa of Cancer Specialist of N. FL.
Her funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. There will be a rosary before the funeral and a small gathering celebrating her life afterwards.
Craig Funeral Home, Crematory & Memorial Park (www.craigfuneralhome.com) is in charge of the arrangements.
