Catherine Settles Craig, 89 years old, passed away June 18, 2014, at the Samantha Wilson Care Center. She was a native of Boise, Idaho, and resided with her brother and parents at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, where her father Dr. C.J. Settles was president.

Catherine was a graduate of Florida State College for Women where she was a member of the Tri-Delta Sorority. She taught school in St. Johns County for 33 years and received the "Teacher of the Year" award. She began her teaching career at Crookshank Elementary then spent most of her career teaching generations of ?rst-graders at R.B. Hunt Elementary.
She was active in many community organizations, including the Junior Service League, Pilot Club, Woman's Exchange, Pink Ladies of Flagler Hospital, and Delta Kappa Gamma, and was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
She is survived by two children, Gus Craig III (Sheryl) and Bonnie Craig DeLong (Gerry); her grandchildren, Chris, Gus and Justin Craig and Stuart Nichols; along with four great-grandchildren, Bailey, Braden, Chandler and Bryson; and her brother, C.J. Settles resides in Pasadena, Texas.
Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, at Evergreen Cemetery, the Rev. Dr. David Weidner, officiating.
